Hi Everone,
We all had a great time celebrating Maris' birthday last night, it was good to see more family members and hear all their news. We made arrangements to visit Scott and Julie (Bill's nephew) the following day.
Scott lives in the Brownhills area an hours drive north of Birmingham it was also a good excuse to try our hire car out. We put the address into the car's sat nav system which made it quite a relaxing easy drive
Scott and Julie bought this house 4 years ago and have done a brillant job in renovating it into a very comfortable home. I thought their taste in colours was particularly good, being very similar to mine of burgandy carpet and cream walls!!
Scott and Julie took us to see Litchfield Cathedral that is about a 20 minute drive further north. It is a really beautiful Cathedral set in the centre of the old historic market town of Litchfield. Again I marvelled at the fantastic architecture of the centuries old cathedral with the primitive building machinery available at the time. The small town of Litchfield is delightful with many old building.
As we wandered around the inside of the Cathedral I thought how wonderful the organ would sound with the soaring ceilings, a few minutes later I was rewarded by the rich sounds of the magnificent cathedral organ resounding from every corner.
After spending a couple of hours wandering around the cathedral we decided lunch was in order, we found a lovely small cafe with home cooked meals, I chose the soup which was most welcome on this cold wet early spring day.
