States Today: Alaska
Saying for the day: Opportunities are never lost, someone will take the ones you miss.
We're getting used to these bright sunny, blue sky days! Off to the Ship Creek Salmon viewing bridge to watch the salmon fishermen. This is the time of year they can fish for 5 different species of salmon. We didn't see any big haul.
Then to the ULU Factory to see the special chopping knives and bowls that the Inuits use. Interesting to see all of the uses it has.
From there we ran into the Alaska Market downtown and spent a couple hours there. Lots and lots of vendors. Everything from art and photography to reindeer quesadillas, elk and bison burgers, to fur made into everything, ivory carvings, live music, leather goods, wood carvings, and lots and lots of jewelry; even things for dogs. A fun time with many, many visuals.
After lunch we headed to Kincaid Park, looking again for Moose. Supposed to be a lot roaming here. We ended up walking 2 miles on the path but all we saw were some tracks and the paths they make through the grasses. Oh well, we shall continue the quest. We have some time in Alaska yet. We are thinking because it's calving time for the cows, that could be the reason we don't see them.
Whittier, AK tomorrow; Williwaw Nat'l Forest Campground
