Off to Whittier today! After just a few miles, we arrive Cook Inlet and follow it to our destination. We get to enjoy this beauty thanks to Capt. Cook and his discovery. And again, 15 shades of green. Let's see if we can get 15:

Mint green, leaf green, pistachio green, lush green, black green, pine green, ever green, dry green, grey green, scotch green, spring green, mountain green, blue green, meadow green, and moss green. Excuse our levity, it's a fun way to pass the time.

The mountains in the distance are covered on top with snow and white, fluffy clouds. Just beautiful! We pass Turnagain Arm B and B, Brown Bear Saloon, Bird Creek, Girdwood, Moose Flats, Bear Paw Rd, lots of fun names.

Coming onto the Kenai (Keen eye) Peninsula; the mountains are up close and personal again.

Arrive the National Forest Campground/Williwaw at 10:30. We find a site - it's lovely with p**** willows just coming into bloom and many spruce trees and the ground is literally all covered with moss. We have a wonderful view of those mountains out of our back window.

We drive to the Visitor's Center and get to see the Portage Glacier from the parking lot. We got a lot of info for our visit here. We also discovered that the strongest earthquake recorded in North America registered a 9.2 on the Richter scale and occurred right here on 3/27/64. And I might add this is the most beautiful park we've had on the entire trip to date. Hats off to the National Forest Campgrounds!
