The Vegas strip was happening last night. It would have been fun to come just as a couple, and I feel bad that we aren't really able to hang out with Hollie or Narci, two of our favorite people, but I have to admit it is a blast with the kids. Jeff was able to sneak away after we all hit the sack and have some fun with the adults. We saw lots of sites and scenes all around the strip.
We drove over to Stratosphere on our way back from Pawn Stars, and that place is a bit of a dump. And, they charge a small fortune to do any type of roller coaster, see the tower, or do just about anything, so we left there pretty quick. We came back to our hotel, to drop off milk for the kids to have cereal in the morning, and hit the pavement. Our hotel is hooked up to the Miracle Mile shops and Planet Hollywood casino, so there is plenty to shop and see right in our hotel. We went over to the New York New York and had yummy ice cream, and hit up the Excaliber to see the tall spires.
We also saw the Sirens of TI show at Treasure Island, which was way better than I remember. The kids loved that one, and Jeff picked out an awesome spot to watch right in the middle of the action. We felt the canon fire burn our faces, it was great!
We also went into the Mirage, which was a waste since the animals are all in a pay only area now, but the kids thought the volcano explosion outside was pretty cool. From what we heard, MGM purchased several properties on the strip and got rid of the free attractions to focus on business only items. Boo for families like us! :) I do have to admit though, that I rarely gamble in Vegas. Jeff may throw a few coins in or play some rounds, but I typically avoid it, so it makes sense from a business stand point.
We ventured through the Venetian just in time to see a winter wonderland themed show,Venice style. The performers were decked out, and there were these incredibly agile performers on stilts. Some were covered in winter flowers, and some in lights.
We also visited the Coke store and M&M World. So much to see and do! We were pretty wiped out by the time we dragged ourselves back to the hotel. The kids were asleep in minutes. Jeff still had the energy to go join Narci and Hollie and some of the RHCP crew. It is incredible to grasp the sheer number of people that are here in Vegas. It is super cold, so with the people and tall buildings, it kind of reminds the kids of New York. The kids say Vegas is the fake version of just about everything. They can't wait to see the real Eiffle tower, and they all agreed they really want to go back to New York again during Christmas time.
Sweet little Narci wants to help all of the homeless people that we have seen. We are lucky to have such sweet and adventurous kids, and to have all that we have. It is amazing that being in a city like Las Vegas, where the streets are paved with gold, you can really reflect on how lucky we all are. We are also lucky to have kids that travel so well, and that love seeing things around the world as much as we do.
