What an amazing day and night!!! It wasn't what we had planned, but usually the best days aren't exactly that.
We started out by checking out the Bellagio, and taking a tour of their gardens. We didn't really want to drive any place because the strip really shuts down to all traffic, and we didn't think we could get back into our hotel garage. So from there, we decided to take a taxi over to Circus Circus, where the kids and I planned on hitting up the amusement park and chilling for most of the day. What a mistake!! I do not recommend that place, what a dive. We saw the flying trapeze which was the only cool part. Wall to wall insanity at that place, and it was pretty run down. Definitely not our scene, and I don't think we'll ever go back.
We ended up eating tons of crab legs and good eats at the Rio Carnival World Buffet. The price was upped due to the holiday, but after the debacle at Circus Circus, we were all starving, and the food was awesome! Malikai took the picture of the crab legs, he couldn't believe how many there were. By the time we wrapped up dinner, it was really late. The strip was shut down, and Jeff had to really push our taxi cab driver to drop us off close. He was able to navigate her all the way to the Aria, an incredibly beautiful casino really close to our hotel.
The kids and I didn't plan on going to the Chili Peppers show, but Jeff really wanted us with them, so we went over to say hi to everyone and try to get in. Well, security was so tight, they wouldn't let any of us into the Cosmopolitan after we went back to our hotel to change, No entry without a ticket or hotel key. Luckily, Hollie came and brought us back stage passes, which were like gold throughout the hotel. We could go anywhere and do anything. The show was an all ages show, so we all got to party like rock stars!!!
We went down to the streets to buy hats and party glasses, since it was still about 8:00, and also went back to our room for a bit to grab the poppers that we bought to shoot off in our room at midnight. By the time we got back up to the backstage green room, it was about 9:30, we played card games in the lobby, danced to the DJ in the ballroom, and had a blast!!!!
Jeff was pretty busy the whole time, and we really didn't want to bug the crew, who was getting ready for the show, so we just danced and partied it up. We took about 20 pictures with all kinds of people that probably thought we were crazy for bringing the kids, but they all said it was because our family was so cute, hahahaha. I am sure we are the brunt of some Facebook jokes and jabs tonight. It was amazing though, and totally worth it. There were a few other kids there, and the kids got a kick out of introducing themselves to them.
When the show started, it was crazy!!!! About 7000 people in the ballroom, all singing and dancing to all of the songs. The floor was literally bouncing up and down, a little scary. Kylie really wanted to go up front, and we couldn't find Jeff, so she just lead us right to the front. She is a pro concert goer at age 8. It really was tame compared to most concerts,. We hooked up with Jeff and got to go backstage. Cousin Narci really connected us, and we were super grateful. The kids all gave him huge hugs. Little Narci said it was the best night of his life.
When the clock struck midnight, we counted down with the band, and the kids shot out poppers backstage. We went out to the pool at the Cosmopolitan, and saw the crazy fireworks across the street at Planet Hollywood. Earlier on the walk over, we ran into the fireworks crew from Long Island, NY, as they were prepping for the big show. So, it was really cool to see it all come together.
They were playing the Chili Peppers on the big screen at the pool, and the kids passed out poppers to some of the people around us, and everyone had a blast shooting them off and cheering for well over 15 minutes. I think this was the kids favorite part of the night. They loved it. So much energy and excitement, and you could hear all of the people in the streets cheering as well. We headed back in for the last song, and ended up leaving right at the end for an emergency bathroom break. Jeff ended up staying to hang out with everyone, and the kids and I high tailed it back to the hotel before everything got too crazy.
All in all, an amazing trip to Vegas, and we could not have asked for a better way to celebrate the end of a year, and the beginning of a new one., Jeff and I have been to New York three times, once partying at the MTV party, and this is one of the best. I know it wouldn't have been as fun with out my side kicks who let their mom embarrass them dancing the night away with them,, and being able to kiss my marvelous husband at the stroke of midnight.
