Pawn Stars is a favorite of all of the boys, and they were geeked to go to the spot. It is actually a pretty small store, We saw some cool silver dollars, jewerly, and mostly high end merchandise in the store, not like a typical pawn shop. It looks like they sell more memorabilia and on e-bay more than anything these days.
There were several items from episodes in the store, including a really cool white Studebaker. None of the stars of the show were there, they work during the week. It looks like they had to get an office next door to get work done. There was a huge line for tourists, but all of the staff was friendly, and didn't seem to mind questions from the crowd.
For those of you that don't know our kids very well, this was a can't miss stop, especially for Malikai, who is 10.. Malikai loves shows like Pawn Stars, Duck Dynasty, and especially Storage Wars. Malikai started selling things on Ebay a year or so ago, and has made quite a bit of cheddar for a kid his age. He had some items close the morning we went to Pawn Stars, and made a quick $20 as he likes to say. He is pretty dedicated to finding ways to make money, and he gets inspiration from shows like this. He took pictures of all of the merchandise in the store, he really thinks through the logic of it. He told me one day that he can't stop his brain from thinking when he sees a price of an item, then he adds percentages, divides, subtracts, all math problems related to how an item is priced. One day maybe he'll be as successful as one of the guys on the shows he likes so much. He is a unique and awesome kid. I'm sure he'll be talking about the trip for months to come.
