We spent the day split into snorkeling in the morning and surfing in the afternoon. Not a bad way to spend the day. Everyone was pretty beat from hiking and driving all day yesterday, so we kept close to the resort.
One of the best places on the island to snorkel is a small shore off a resort in Princeville down a long path that takes you from the cliffs down to the shore below. Kylie and I didn't last long snorkeling, I am still having jaw issues and the mouthpiece just wasn't going to work. Malikai, Jeff, and Narci stayed out there for a couple hours and saw thousands of cool fish. There was a fish guide sheet that our rental place gave us to help you identify what you see in the water and they were able to see everything on the list during the trip and then some! Jeff chased a huge fish all around but could never get a good picture of it. With all of the coral and everything, it was like one big aquarium.
The kids were itching to surf again and could not wait a minute longer to go. We picked up some rental boards and hit Hanalei again. The surf was perfect and the kids caught waves until it was dark. Jeff and I caught a few too, but they didn't let us have the boards for long. Narci and Malikai jumped off the pier and everyone had a blast. Seriously my most favorite beach in the world! Perfect sand, easy waves and a great atmosphere.
Jeff wanted to try a small dive in between Kapa'a and Princeville so we packed up the boards, got in the car once more and were on our way. It was too bad that the place was closed
when we got there, everything closes super early around here, this place was
only open for breakfast and lunch.
We ended up just going back to the resort and finishing up most of our breakfast and lunch stuff. It is so nice having a kitchen on a trip like this!! We really haven't eaten out much. The groceries are super pricey compared to what we are used to though and I am dying for a salad! Jeff went and got me a bag of mixed greens for $7, which would normally cost about $3 in Texas.
Tomorrow looks like another surf day!
