Kel: We hadn't really thought about glaciers when we booked our NZ trip but we really really enjoyed our suprise explore. MATT: I am going back a bit here, as I kind of forgot to tell this story when it happened...but here goes. We left Kaiteriteri for the drive South down the West coast. The drive was pretty stunning, lots of various mountain scenery with twisting climbs and decents broken up with long straights through fields and followed by beautiful runs down the rugged west coast. Unfortunately one of the long straights was my undoing. I was happy to get out of the slower twis...

MATT: We get to Kaiteriteri quite late in the afternoon...but although the camperpark is big, it is pretty nice...so we settle in and relax. A short stroll to the beach and book up for the following days activity...a full days kayaking up the coast line of the Abel Tasmin National Park. In the morning we are up early and meet the kayak guides on the beach, before long we are all sorted and in our kayaks folowing our guide - Scotty - a very friendly young Kiwi gu...

MATT: A painless, scenic ferry crossing to Picton, a nice (250km) drive to Nelson where we arrive as the sun is setting into one of the most pretty bays we have been to yet and we get to the campsite which is one of the nicest most relaxed so far - run by an extremely chilled guy and close to some of the sights in town. We end up staying a couple of nights - one of which we had the most amazing lamb and mint burger bbq - which had all the other campers salivating...

MATT: Another few km's and a scenic drive down to Wellington...every corner you turn this country gets more beautiful. Our camp for the next couple of nights is a car park behind a motel on the motorway that runs into Wellington...definitely our most pikey experience so far...but is is close to the ferry we will take to the South Island in a couple of days, and a quick bus ride into the city centre.
