Day 35:
Snuggly warm this morning in bed and I was awaken by groans coming from the other side. E: What's the matter - W: I need to go to toilet and I am too warm…E: hmmmm just go. So up he jumps taking blankets with him and I groan and say it only has a 6 in it, to us that means it's too early to be awake. I snuggle again after retrieval of blankets. He returns, jumps in the van - W: quick I need the camera where is it? So, the urgency was the beautiful sunrise thru the mist on the outlying fields. Beautiful, I admit but he could do it all quietly and surprise me later.
Set off this morning by 9, on a stunningly beautiful blue-sky day, we only had 170 kms to go and were told by York caravan park - not before 1pm I have to clean the amenities. So, we were in no hurry but stopped at Wongan Hills for petrol and coffee. Drove thru a lot of lovely countryside of rolling green fields but with white fluffy clouds appearing then big black clouds and not looking nearly as nice as we wanted. As we drove into Northam down it came, torrential rain again. Looked such a lovely town and would have spent more time there if possible. Found a good café for lunch and enjoyed some fish tacos, very nice. Only another 40 kms to York and pulled in at 13:04 so we were safe. Strange caravan park with even stranger owner/manager. We drove the wrong way down a road as it said 'keep left' so we did and out he came and told us to get out of the middle of the road. It is a bush camp in the outskirts of York, really random, Wally called him a character…hmmm $35 for a very basic site but we do have tv reception for a change.
Anyway, set up and drove into York to check it out, beautiful town with great buildings, first inland town in WA. Rain ruined our wander but we persisted. Mr P found an old Lolly shop and enjoyed purchasing some yummies. We also found a great pantry place in a back street with some fabulous fresh veggies and of course he needed a ginger/rhubarb/orange jam. Found a swing bridge that of course he hates but I made him go across and back and I only shook it a little bit.
Back now to the van and it is cold, we are in double jumpers and there are chickens wandering around the van.
Off into Rockingham tomorrow for 4 to 5 days of socialising with family, looking forward to seeing you Kim, Garry and Gail and Ross please may I sit on your lounge/s just for a bit.
