This morning we caught the bus to Leblon and walked around the lake which was very nice. We then decided to take our lives in our hands and walk from Leblon to Copacabana Beach. Now you would think that as there is a pavement all the way that this would be the safe option but oh no not in Rio! In Rio it would seem that cars have right of way on pavements as well as roads. You can be happily walking along enjoying the scenery when out of nowhere a car will mount the curb and have the cheek to toot his horn at you for being on the pavement. Or one will appear from some hidden entrance and shoot out onto the road (I'm sure they disguise their driveways/garages to see if they can knock down pedestrians!) Well anyway we got to the beach safe and sound and spent a lazy afternoon sunbathing and swimming.
