Arrived early evening in Rio de Janeiro after an uneventful bus trip. The police did board the bus once to search it but didn’t seem concerned that we had 120 blankets and 5,000 rolls of Sellotape on board! We got a taxi to the hostel and the driver dropped us off at the bottom of a hill and pointed upwards to indicate the hostel was at the top. 170 steps later we get to the hostel and they were big steps! No matter there is a supermarket at the bottom so I reckon I can buy a pack of Oreos every time we go out and work them off by the time I get back to the room (simples!) The climb is well worth it as we have a fantastic view of Christ the Redeemer from the balcony.
