Well today is our last day and this is therefore our last blog (no tears please!) Fittingly the day was spent visiting Auschwitz which cannot be put into words. Now some facts about our Poland trip: We have travelled: 160 miles by minibus; 10 miles by train; 10 miles by taxi. Nick has eaten polish sausage at every mealtime! We have not eaten any cabbage! Today we visited Wieliczka Salt Mine which was very interesting as they had even built cathedrals, altars and lakes underground! Nick reckons the lakes were swimming pools for the miners and that this was quite common a couple of centuries ago (I think he's taking the mick although the New Zealand girl we met on the tour believed him!!) To get to the mine there were 380 steps but fortunately to get out there was an old miner's lift which proved very interesting...

Well today we leave the snow of Moscow behind and start our way to Krakow. First some facts about our Russian visit: We travelled: 5,200 miles by train; 30 miles by tube; 40 miles by taxi. Well today Nicks wish for snow has come true and we set off in a flurry of snowfall for the Novodevichy Convent. We need to get the metro and then it is about a mile walk to the Convent so not too bad. I do however use the word walk loosely as today I am wearing my entire wardrobe as I was so cold yesterday. Today we set off early to see Red Square and the Kremlin and we were not dissappointed. Moscow is a really beautiful city and very rich and clean as well. Our first stop was Lenin's Mausoleum and yes it is true (I had thought the guide books were mistaken) but there he is embalmed in a glass coffin that you walk around and look at (spooky!!) We then went on a tour of St Basils Cathedral and finally the Russian History Museum. Actually I sat about most of the time...
