I wakeeee uppp innn theeee morninggg feelinggg likeeee realllll s***yyyy; our very hard mattress gets all the compliments!
After our morning back ache we went and had our free breakfast. Organized a bit and hit the road. Walked down side streets until we hit the busy Nanjing rd where we experienced more chinese interaction: "hey lady hey sir....nice watch, Rolex.... Nike Nike, you like Nike? " heard that X 20 at least.
Went to the bund: a large section by the water that over looks the huge Shanghai skyline. Went through this trippy acid themed tunnel ride only Amsterdam could fare better with.
arrived across the river, walked down the Main business-sky scrapper area. Went up the Shanghai world trade center to the 94 floor for some amazing views. We found a "super toilet " with built in heating, and a high powered butt cleaner as I should say which was thoroughly amusing considering all the squating we have been doing. However we have learned a few tricks to squating. It's a bit easier if you bend down far enough so your bum is by your feet rather than in an actual squat form which kills your thighs after a few minutes haha. So after leaving the trade center we headed back towards our hostel admiring the daily life-- the little shops with fruit and nuts as they huddled around each other for heat since pretty much no where in china has central heating. Then we pass by what we heard we may see but hadn't seen it yet ... An open animal market. Or should we just call it a kiting zone. This was very interesting yet dramatic ad cute little ducks were getting chopped and thrown into boilers. There was chickens, snakes, birds of all sorts fish and more and blood everywhere as people would choose their furry dinner and have it prepared before there eyes. I got a video of it which I will post later when I can. Were continually amazed with how different things are done here! As we return back to the hostel we see this extremely malnourished cat which is hanging around our hostel meowing non stop ( which is not uncommon around china as we see many dogs and cats not on leashes just roaming the streets) so us being animal lovers we had to goto the store and get it some food. The little guy was very happy to say the least.
We hung out at our hostel for a bit playing pool then decided we should checkout a pub crawl. Got the directions to the bar and went there...in theory. Not any cab, person nor us could find the bar; after an hour searing we gave up hopes and said funk if, let's head back to the hostel. Nothing really interesting after, just hit the hay!
