Woke up nice and early to beautiful Chinese music: construction.
Having Chengdu to ourselves for the day we took today as a whatever, whenever and however pace. Chengdu it self is not tourist crazy but what's around it, that being said, we still soaked in more of the city and more
of the sights.
We went to an area that had a trendy cobble stone, French street feel to it. We were well surprised to the architecture and designs of these modern/ trendy restaurants.
Walked around the city a bit and came back to our hostel for lunch ( its good, cheap and we know there's no dog meat in it!)
Went to a monestery, had a nice large green garden area: always a nice change from the concert jungle.
Later that night we went the a sichuan opera/ face changing show.
It was a pretty decent show with acrobatics, fire breathing and the crazy face changing mask routine.
We wanted to be in Hong Kong for Xmas but we would
have needed to set up the Tyler and Michelle charity fund just to raise money for logging. For a bedroom in a hostel normally in HK you can get for $25-40 Cnd a night; for Xmas time they were charging $ 300 x two of us= $600/ night x 3 night......gulp... $ 1800 for three nights. Ya so we planned to go on the 21st -23rd for a reasonable $66 a night (which is still expensive).
Heading to the panda research base to do our volunteering for the day and get up and close with these black and white beauties.
Take care and you will hear a hopefully exciting next blog!
