In Macapá, travelling with the speed of light! Man, what distances we have left behind us the last few weeks... Flew in from Brasilia last night, and therefore also ignoring any plans we had on heading to Manaus. We need BEACH! Manaus can, if we want to, be accessed from the north when we cross into Brazil again from Guyana. Flight was with TAM and as an airline TAM is quite exuisit! Outstanding aircrafts, superb service and right on schedule. If u ever find yerself flying domestic in Brazil, TAM is your choice.
We´ve spent the last two days in Brasilia. The busdrive from Goiás took about 7 hours, and we had a change of buses in Goiánia. There isn´t a city in the world like Brasilia, it´s simply the weirdest shít ever. The whole core of the city is shaped like an airplane. Originally it was s´posed to resemble a bow and an arrow, but no no, def a airplane. Google it and see for yerself. Distances in Brasilia is huuge, and nobody really walks anywhere. Except the spoons of course, we are so fit we walk everywhere. But by the end of our sightseeing , we were pretty damn exhausted. Seems to be miles between everything. As much as it is strange, Brasilia is a surprisingly nice city. Expensive as well. We stayed at the cheapest option in town, 10 minutes out of the center. A horrible looking hostel, with nothing in the near proximity. The kinda place that makes you think yer gonna have yer organs stolen. In a 6 man dorm we still had to pay 52 reais (180ish kroners) per night. Nighttime in Brasilia didn´t look to promising, but we found paradise. A smooth bar/restaurant at Lago Sul called Bier Fass. We went there expecting to enter an empty bar, but to our surprise the place was crowded! In a good way!! In a very good way!!! Tho the two poor spoons most likely ended up at the most expensive bar in town.
So, in Macapá now, arrived late at night and after some flip-flopping around city center to find the cheapest option to stay we crawled into bed. Hotel Santo Antonio offers dirt cheap rooms and they are comfortable with aircon as well. Today has been all about arranging the journey onto French Guiana. The bus drive to the bordertown Oiapoque takes 12-24 hours (!!). If it rains, maybe more... And oh yes... It´s raining... Macapá isn´t the nicest of towns, but it serves as a transit stop for people heading further north, or as a stop on a river cruise up n down the Amazon. It has little of interest except an old fort, build to protect the town from the evil frenchmen. Nasty b*****s... We tried to visit the fort, but as it was raining, the lady at the entrance was afraid we might slid of a rock and die, so she didn´t let us in. Ahhh... the dissappointment! Fit people like us never slide, even in flip-flops and rain. Remarkable balance, caused by a flawless bodyshape!!
Oh and ye, hallusinations is on!!! Lariam is kicking in, and one of the spoons has either developed a sixth sense or it´s the sideeffects of the profilaxis. Dead people are often spotted during the night to much amusement for both spoons. Simply awesome! A word of advice, do not touch the dead people as u will prolly suffer a similar fate... or worse...
Hallusinating spoons signing out and moving on!
