Rain is coming
It's getting cold. The sky was cloudy and now it's grey. Im sitting in a Starbucks in Vancouver, Washington. Not Vancouver the Canadian island. Just a small town right over the Oregon/Washington border across from Portland.
It's amazing how big our city is. Our being Philadelphia and any of you readers from the Philly area. I'm not sure where Philadelphia falls in, in the listing of cities largest to smallest.
OK, I had to look it up. Philly is the 6th largest population wize. NYC being an obvious first. I have to say too that our skyline is one of the coolest by far.
Anyway... rain is coming. I made it to Bobbys house. It's a GORGEOUS house too, and Bobby is a super cool dude! But, right.. I am in the Starbucks chilling out with some free wifi, a vanilla latte. (though the pumpkin one is pretty swell too) and keeping an eye on the bike parked ever so oddly along the curb.
Motorbikes are truly amazing rides. For all sorts of various reasons, but one pretty cool one is, the ability to park your bike JUST about anywhere, and without too much hassle from the cops.
So, tonight I get to meet Nancy. Suedes wife. I think she is picking me up and we're doing mexican food and then a massage. TOTALLY sweet! My body is beat up from the 8 day motorbike trip so far. Or is it nine now? Whichever. I also suppose I will be running into and meeting Barbara, Bobby's main squeeze at his house. I'm a stranger in a strange land but hopefully among new friends.
My arm is peeling. I guess I really did burn it pretty bad from the Arizona sun last week. Last week, right? It's amazing how epic long rides like this seem to blur after awhile.
Tomorrow I ride (in rain I think) into Seattle. My good friend Al is flying in Friday morning to rent a Harley and then we're both heading south (in rain I think) I've always heard about typical Seattle rainy weather, and why shouldnt I get a dose of its hospitality.
Todays ride was quite boring. All Highway and not ONE thing to look at. There was a cute girl flying by in a Prius with Jersey tags. Odd. But no epic scenery to speak of. Not today. Though the route Al and I have planned is a pretty cool one. Coastal shores of Oregon. Possibly Mt Raniere, and Mount St Helens. The redwoods forest. Lassen Volcanic park, Reno, Tahoe, Yosemite, Death Valley, and finally Vegas.
I keep thinking of the movie lately. Im excited to get back to PA and really spend all my time producing it. band gigs too of course. Can't forget about them, and of course, the recording of my new music. Thats always exciting. So much to do! I'm also still playing with the idea of Australia in Decemeber, but we'll see. I think Movie/music first. Besides after this 30 day trip, I'll want some "down-time" if you will.
Well dear readers, I hope you all are well. I havent calculated todays miles. But Im guessing its around 180 give or take, and about another 180 to Seattle tomorrow. (in rain I think)
I hope Al is bringing rain gear
miss everyone
