Be-ver-ly Hills...Thats where i want ta beeeee
Ok, Not really.
I woke up in Cabazon California today to a beautiful sunny day. Took my good ole time getting up and getting my things together. Why not? I'm not on any schedule. Life is the open cliche road and I'm gonna ride it as long as I want.
I had forgotten that when I was in Canada all alone. That every day I was loading up gear onto the bike was the time people come and talk to me. I met an older couple from Arizona who happened to be rooming next door to me. They were nice and although it was just small talk, it's nice to see strangers wish you well and safe travels.
So, I hopped on the bike and rode west towards LA. Earlier this morning I got a phone call from Suede and Bobby. These were the two guys I met up in the Yukon and rode about a week with up into Alaska. What great times we had, and was good to hear from them. It's amazing how friendships are made. So many variables leading to one final outcome. I'm only friends with Bobby and Suede because I chose to ride around the world, and on the date that I chose to leave. Or even the rain that made all of us stay at the airforce lodge in the Yukon, and even still, how Suede managed to mess up his leg from an unseen pothole in a horrible parking lot. All of these things (ane more) led us to become friends.
That's really cool!
Suede and Bobby are also on a motorbike trip at this very moment. They both live up near Portland, Oregon, and are riding south into Utah and possible beyond. Somehow we reckon our paths will cross. They Have to. We're all on motorbike trips in more or less the same area of the United States, and almost an exact year later. Pretty cool!
So, I ride west into LA, and WOW...traffic. Horrible traffic. I knew LA traffic sucked, but WOW. it REALLY sux!! I was riding into Hollywood to meet a buddy of mine, Scott. Who happens to be hanging out in Hollywood for a week before he drives his truck, complete with his own motorbike, back to Pa. Scott is also the actor playing the role of Dan in our zombie movie. Amazing how things happen.
So, I eventually make it to Scott's place in Hollywood, and after a little bit of time BS-ing, he mentioned we take the ride a little ways up the Pacific Coast Hwy to this awesome Canyon run. I've got absolutely zero plans, lets go!
So, after more riding through LA traffic, which is just beyond insane. We finally make it onto the PCH (pacific coast highway) The canyon run was amazing, although short, and also had some amazing scenery (will upload pics later) and ending the trip at a biker bar/seafood place on the PCH called Neptunes Net.
As the sun was setting over the ocean, we headed back to Hollywood, where my motel 6 was happily waiting for me. We rode through Beverly Hills, Sunset Blvd, passing all of the hotspots and famous places Hollywood is known for.
I have to say...I remember watching late night TV talk shows, like Conan, or David Letterman when I was younger, and remember actors talking about if they were East coast/NYC people or west coast/LA people. I'm not sure what kind of person I am, but after spending today in Hollywood, I think I'm definitely NOT a west coast person. At least not California. For some reason, this was not the california I remember the half a dozen times I came here when I was younger. I'm not thinking California changed, just me.
So here I am, sitting in my lame motel 6 in Hollywood. Exhausted from the day. Happy to be near the ocean, but mentally and physically fatigued.
only 203 miles today
971 total miles
tomorrow I head north up the coast
miss everyone
