Day 24
"on the road again...."
I almost hit a Moose on the road again!!!!! Holy s***! it was definitely a HOLY s*** moment! that damn moose came out of nowhere. (said the drunk to the policeman) But seriously. I was just riding down the hwy minding my own damn business, when all of a sudden this HUGE moose came waltzing across the road. I zigged...he zagged, He then shot ME a HOLY s*** look, as I did the same. Then he Zagged, and I zigged and i JUST missed him. WHEW!!! close call for sure. Definitely dont want any of THOSE anymore.
Ok, IM AWAKE NOW!
Today was mostly sunny. yes. MOSTLY...which means I did get drizzled on late in the day, around 4PM....SERIOUSLY!!!! WTF? it hasnt rained a freaking drop the 3 days i was stranded in Smithers... sigh. I seriously pissed off SOME god up there who's laughing his ass off at me.
It was also pretty cold this morning. 37 degrees this morning, but then warmed up nicely, and I had a mostly nice ride. I got into Prince George, and immediately hit the Honda dealer there. it was REALLY nice, except it was missing ONE thing. A tire that fit my bike. So they recommended I go to the Yamaha dealer, they might have one. So I drove off, and got there, and Sure enough...they had one left, and even installed it for me. So after about a 2 hour wait, which wasnt bad I thought considering. I was off to make a shorter distance out of tomorrow's ride to Banff. Which is about 400 miles from prince George. Long ride for sure.
So I rode about another 100 miles to the little town of mcbride, bc. Where I found gas, a hotel, and resteraunt. Oh....which leads me to this... out here in the mtns of Canada, you can go a good 100 miles without ever seeing food, fuel, or lodging. esepcially this time of year when a lot of places are closing for the fall season. So I had to use my emergency gas can today for the 2nd time of the trip, and this time, I was s***tin bricks. I thought I wasnt going to make it to a gas station, and be screwed out here in the mtns of BC. NOT fun!
Luckily i DID make it, and got my room.
Tomorrow I ride out of BC finally and back into Alberta on route to Banff. which is where i plan to splurge and treat myself to a 5 star hotel and a kick ass massage, and some good beer. My body is HURTING!!! On the way there, Im supposed to ride through the infamous 'ice fields' so I'm hoping thats pretty cool. I havent taken many pics or vids lately. So tomorrow SHOULD be a big picture day.
So..376 miles today
6,832 total miles
Finally have a new rear tire, its a beautiful thing..seriously
7 cows honked at today
PS. I also want to say, for any bikers who ever read this. If you ever ride through smithers, BC, you HAVE to look up Sam Henderson, and his bike shop Eye candy. He's a real stand up guy, and will treat you like family. Great guy indeed!!
PPS: btw. i just booked my 2 nights stay in a 5 star hotel in Banff. complete with massage in the spa on thursday! i SOO cant freaking wait!
here's the place im staying at
