Well here we are... Saturday was manic - late lunch with friends a match at Chelsea football club meant our cab took an hour longer than usual. Got to the airport 90 min before take-off, which luckily meant that we were rushed past the queues of people lining up for the BAA strip search experience. Quite a result really!
12 hours later (during time which we realised the powerful contraceptive effect of sitting next to other peoples' 2-3 year old children) we touched down in Cape Town, after a brilliant approach over the beaches. Left the airport to a warm welcome from the Cape - a perfect sunny day at 30 degrees - and also from Mum & Dad, who are looking really well.
Lunch at Kirstinbosch - the mountain was amazing - green and lush after a winter of heavy rain. Then back home for an afternoon nap; the first stage in my recovery-from-Xmas-party-season plan.
Not wanting to miss our first African sunset in over a year, we drove around to Hout Bay, but the cold front was blowing in some spectacular and stormy cloud formations. Strangley beautiful in their own way, as only the Cape Town weather can be. Then on to Mariner's Wharf & then home - a chilled out day, but exactly what the doctor ordered.
