Gay London
Is it different to any other city?
More equal? More friendly?
Short answer: depends.
My friends who get blotto would say Yes! But, I'm looking through older, way more experienced eyes; short answer: no way!
Admiral Duncan is the old school drag shows! Temperatures through the roof, uncomfortably so (drink up boys!). The Old boys are against the walls. Hot muscled gays out front and, oh yes! Behind the bar! Drinks reasonable prices for a captive audience yet...something missing!
KU Bar: very pretty, very trendy, very light n bright...yet, still same scenario: hot muscled ab guys out front and behind the bar! One 'average' looking Spanish looking gent awkwardly clutching his odd glass of red wine in a sea of vodka and tonics held by dominant (bottoms) with protruding pecs and asses! ....something missing!
Cromptons; even more crowded, more sweat riddled and segregated as previously observed! ...something missing!
Maybe I'm older, wiser, different, calmer, who knows? But it ain't what it used to be, or, is it?
Still feel we are the loudest crying for equality, support and inclusion yet we are the biggest hypocritical bunch of tossers going around!
That "something missing"? Humility, friendliness and support!
Yes! In London but pretty soon realise I could be anywhere in the world!
I'm better than what we offer but it's all we have so...I'll play!
...by the way, not bitter at all! Just seeing things so much clearer than ever before! And, feeling great! Proud and aware!
