Day Ten 24.03.05 Today Gordon, Neil, Bill and David arrived at the house. We had a super lunch al fresco and then took a visit to the supermarket to stock up all the necessary food and alcohol for the next few days. Going to the supermarket with this many people was quite a performance. It started with deciding to just take the van, with Bill and Gordon sitting on the floor on the way. Whilst in the supermarket we decided that we would have a couple of teams and each would be responsible for a meal. This ended up in debates about whose lettuce was who's and whether anyone had picked up lardons and pine nuts, whilst forgetting the basics like milk and bread! Bill and David were also trying to find a kitchen blow torch (for crème brulee) and this was also to be Gordon's birthday present. They didn't have much success and their search also roped in an innocent shopper who they thought was a shop assistant. The shopper did try and help them and took them round some of the store and then admitted defeat and said they didn't know. Later they tried to find one in a DIY store (more like a builders merchant) and were offered an industrial sized blow torch which was nearly purchased and then common sense prevailed. Back to the van and Gordon, Neil and David had squeezed onto the back seat leaving poor Bill to be sat on the floor with bottles etc digging into him and having to rescue items as they fell round the cabin. It was then we decided to take two cars in future.
