Wills and James Road Trip
Day Seven 21.03.05
Will brought James a boiled egg and soldiers in bed and a nice mug of tea. This was shear luxury and James didn't have the heart to tell William that the egg yolk was hard and the soldiers were cold.
We left the house and just to pile on the guilt William had also washed up and prepared packed lunch for our daytrip to Futuroscope. We used our handy laptop again for directions and this time it did not deliver so it was back to the trusty Europe maps given to James as part of a leaving present from work friends (Thanks guys). We decided that we would take a more direct route avoiding the motorways. Although very picturesque it seemed that every tractor and lorry were out for the day and happened to be going the exact same way we were, maybe they had also ditched their lap tops today.
Futuroscope was a strange place and it didn't help that the lady at the kiosk gave us a French guide when she clearly knew we were English because she laughed when James said 'Thank You' in Spanish by mistake. About an hour into the day we managed to swap our guide for an English version which shed a whole new light on the park. We then realised that we had paid in excess of sixty euros for a day spent going to different fancy cinemas with films that were designed to appeal to any language provided you were French. We did pick up our complementary translation headsets which only worked sporadically and definitely didn't work on face to face interaction with park reps.
Some of the films and effects were actually very good, there were a few misses which coined the phrase 'Crapuroscope' but overall it was a good day especially at the 'Space Station' and 'Cosmos' for William. James enjoyed the IMAX version of 'Black Beauty' set in the Morrocan mountains. We were both glad that the weather had turned nasty towards the end of our day (3pm) and kept the crowds a bay meaning queuing was kept to a minimum and the sunshine wasn't wasted sitting on moving seats inside curiously designed buildings.
James by this time had a thumping headache (which William didn't believe) meaning that William drove home. This time we took the motorways and we back in half the time.
James made up for the lack of input to food and driving today by making a lovely chicken dinner. Yum Yum!
