Still in Sydney, still jobless, and still bored! Was so close to having a job too, the job I thought I had in St Leonard's has now fallen through. They offered us all jobs and said that they would be in touch with a day to start the training, it got to Wednesday and I thought it was abit funny that I hadn't heard anything, so I ring them up and they tell me that the client has put the new campaigns on the back burner and that there won't be any work now until January 5th, which really doesn't help me! Felt so angry and annoyed that I'd had to ring up in the first place to find out what was going on. I have a funny feeling that there won't be any work at all, even in January, so on Friday I printed out some cv's and tramped all the way round Sydney handing my cv in to anywhere which had a sign in the window. Managed to hand out 8 cv's. Had an interview for a car rental company in King's Cross yesterday, was only 5 mins long and it sounded like he'd had alot of people ringing up for it. Think there are just far too many backpackers here wanting work and not enough jobs.
Me, and the two Fiona's and her friend Jack went to Coogee beach last Tuesday, much better than Bondi, alot more chilled out, was nice to have some sunshine for once! Went to see the film Australia that night too, was quite a good film. Very long though at 3 hours. We've finally moved into the en suite room the other day too, there's some pictures of it I think. Is so much better than the other pokey little room we were in before, we now have our own bathroom and a balcony, although one of the other people saw a Huntsman spider on there not so long ago, so hope it doesn't make a repeat visit any time soon! Got two new housemates the other day too, they're Norwegian, well there's 3 of them actually, 2 guys and a girl, hope they're not planning on all living in that pokey room! Not really spoke to them much yet, don't think they'll get my Northern sense of humour though somehow....
On Sunday, Fiona and I went to the Chinese Gardens in Darling Harbour, paid $6 to get in, was a lovely little place, very scenic and peaceful, lots of big fishies swimming about. There was a wedding that was going to be taking place that day there too, although we didn't see the bride, seems like a nice place to get wed. Today (Tuesday) me and the two Fiona's have been to see Four Holidays at the cinema, is quite a good film, really doesn't seem like Christmas here though at all, not really excited for it this year really, don't know why, perhaps it's because I'm away from home, will be nice to have a diff Christmas on the beach (fingers crossed) but will miss being with family! Also managed to sell my backpack today too, I got $50 for it which was good, didn't have to drop my price, will get me a few drinks or a third of my rent for a week if I spend it wisely!
Thinking of maybe going fruit/veg picking in January too, the job thing is just not happening here and we're both sick of Sydney now, done everything there is to do and there doesn't seem to be too much point staying round here when we're not working. We saw an advert on the harvest trail website for tomato picking in Colcannabin - or something like that - which is in Victoria, close to Shepparton, it's 30 + hours a week, there's a house on the farm where you can stay for $105 a week and think we could save up some good money while we're there as we'd be working quite abit and it's probably in the sticks somewhere. That starts early Jan, the guy is going to email us the details tomorrow, just fingers crossed something starts going right for once!! Keep you all posted anywhoo! xx
