Well today was meant to be a beach day... but we woke up to overcast skies. Not to be deterred we headed to Torque/ "SURF CITY" , the home of Quicksilver, O'neil and Rip Curl outlets. OH DEAR!!!!!I say no more.
After a "browse" around the shops we headed down for a look at the surf beach. It was lovely, and the sun came out just in time. I actually wish that I had chosen to settle somewhere like this instead of in Melboure. I think the lifestyle would have been really nice and its more the "true Aussie life". Never mind though, only here for another week.
After lunch we decided to hit the beach. When we got there we found that there wasa surf life saving competition on and all the locals were gathered. I really admire people who do surflifesaving it looks like bloody hard work, you basically have to race doing things like towing surfboard, swimming, surfing, paddling all in freezing water. The wind picked up so we headed in a bit from the sea and settled by a small lagoon where the guys could enjoy a beer without being shouted at. It was nice to just relax I must admit.
However out trip was unexpectantly changed when we arrived home. We knew Joy and Owen were coming for the weekend andwere staying in the other side of the garage, as they do most weekends. However their friend was also coming with them, and we suspected she would be the forth member in our bed… not fancying having to share with a stranger, along with the fact that we had done all we wanted to do, we decided to return to Melbourne.
The night was actually really unexpected but good. We ended up going to Brunswick Street - my favourite Melbourne place! We went to the coolest café ever called the VEGGY BAR. It was packed even at 10pm and served up scrummy food. However as per usual I ordered the wrong thing and wanted what everyone else had so I am making Dan take me again next week. After that we hit a bar called BIMBOS… apparently a bit of an institution. It was actually populated with people I was so happy. We went upstairs to the open terrace which was like something out of Harry Potter with all hanging lanterns and stuff…. And many many beautiful people. However Ian found it a bit loud to talk which was fare enough so we went to a small wine lounge bar. It was very small and apparently "typically Melbourne" it was nice but for once I would have rather been in the dance club… I don't know what's happened to me lately I think it must be the wine!
Anyway at least I have done something this weekend worth writing to you all about J… oh but I have now discovered the best chocolate. Its called cherry ripe and it like raspberry ruffle but sooooooooo much better!
