G'day guys, I have had some action packed days which have been brilliant but also very tiring I could definitely do with a nice lazy week of sleeping but in Australia the chances of that ever happening to me are slim to none so nevermind I'll get over it. Sleep is for the weak after all! Last Thursday I finished work at 6ish and went straight to Asian Beer Cafe with Alexia and Grace, we met Elaine, Brid, Brid's Irish Crew (around 12 of them) Nicola, Liam, Aimee etc etc basically the whole of the travelling community in Melbourne was in ABC that night. We obviously went straight for the champagne as that is our style for sure. And we had a nice sensible night chilling out in there - yeah right. I was 'going home in 5 mins' all night from around 9.30 but eventutally made it home just before 1am. So it was early for my usual Thursday standards I suppose. We all had a good night anyways, in the end me and Liam just decided to do a runner and leave for home without saying bye to anyone haha. Oops. I love how at that time of night I can get a tram home here!! Amazing transport system I must admit.
The next day when I woke up I was getting ready for work and on my balcony a HUGE cockatoo appeared to have a little chill session out there, it was massive!! So I actually managed to get a photo of it which was nice. The wildlife here is lovely when you get to see things like that at 8am in the morning. Obviously the Champers gives off quite a nasty hangover as its so cheap so the next day I was suffering ever so slightly and got in to work and emailed Takami our rota handler to ask if I could take Nick Off Early (NOE) at 2.30 as I had a lot to do that night. So lucky for me I was approved that instantly so it wasn't so bad knowing I didn't have to do a full shift. So after a lovely day at work chilling out next to Liam I went home at 2.30pm, well by home I mean I went shopping for some boots, as my lovely parents had given me some Easter monies and I was sick of having cold feet at all times so I headed to Rubi Shoes and got me some lovely black boots with a little heel on so I can dress them up and also wear them with most of my trampy clothes! So I will now the proud owner of some lovely warm feet as Winter is well and truly setting in at the moment which is bulls*** I hate the cold, especially when I am not equipped with warm clothes here. I also got some socks as I brought like 2 pairs with me travelling... clever. And some tights to keep my legs warm as I have 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of leggings and my leopard print harem pants so mainly wear skirts n denim shorts here so tights are my saviour. I then got myself home and did that thing that I hate doing... tidied my bedroom as it was a massive s*** tip funnily enough and since I move out on Sunday Miki had people coming to view my room as she hunts for a new flatmate, although clearly no one will ever beat me for her I don't think. But i didn't think it would be very fair if I left all of the mess out as people may have been put off by that. So I left it very tidy and clean, although surprisingly I tried to hoover the room but I couldn't work the hoover - which to be honest has been the story of my life. Me and hoovers are not compatible. I also packed my bag for Tasmania with everything I would need for the weekend away. So after my cleaning exhibition I got myself ready for my long awaited date night with J9 she's always off work when I'm at work so we find it hard to catch up so off I went to meet her.
We had decided to go for Mexican as I hadn't had one since Las Iguanas with Suzi Q and Lisa D from work before I left sunny Newcastle in December so I was well craving one. We went to a kind of fast food Mexican but it was amazing, and I got a frozen margarite which was beautiful and J9 got frozen sangria which was good too. We got ourselves some quesadillas and some nachos to share and we sat outside enjoying the nice evening. We then decided we needed to go to some bars that we'd never been to before as Melbourne has soo many cool places to go down dodgy laneways so I googles laneway bars but couldn't figure out where they were so we headed in the direction of hardware lane as there is some laneways there, we finally ended up in a random laneway eating krispy Kreme doughnuts as we had went via a 7/11 for cash out and they all have Krispy Kremes in them which is brilliant so whilst looking for laneway bars eating them and also being rained on as it was raining by this point. We finally came across a doorway with a man standing outside who looked suspiciously like a doorman... so we went in and it turns out we'd came across a very cool bar called Murmur. It was kind of a French theme perhaps, a few French Art Deco art prints on the wall which I love (anyone remember my 'Le Petit Chablis' picture? So we got ourselves a nice comfy sofa and drinks and chilled out in there. In there however there was 2 girls sitting having a nice drink together too and one of them was pregnant so pregnant infact her belly button had well popped out she was just sitting there drinking away it was horrendous I was not amused. Shame. On. Her. The funniest/randomist part of the night was when we were asked to get off the sofa so the bar man could get some glasses from behind our seat, he stood on the sofa builders bum out and everything it was not a nice sight to be honest haha. Anyways we got our seat back not long afterwards and then we decided to head to a new bar for a new drink so we ended up in a really cool Norwegian Bar called DuNord where I got me a massive tankard of real beer, I was horrified when It came out as it looked really dark and nasty but it was actually probably the nicest beer I've ever had (with the exception of Erdinger) I was very impressed with my selection! I also attempted to drink it with a lovely pretty straw the camp barman was loving it haha. All the bar men were dressed as sailors too which was very random too. Janine ended up getting a mini tankard after she finished her apple vodka cocktail thing, so my drink looked even more impressive next to hers!! It was a wicked bar I loved it and I definitely want to go back there. The man on the door ID'd us on the way in which always makes me happy and he then asked if our licences were from Perth or the UK? When we said the UK he was like 'oh are you from Essex or London' haha NO!! Its funny how people think only the South of England exists and not the North. Although to be fair at least he didn't ask which part of Scotland I'm from like everyone else does.
I then checked my drinking app which tells you all of the happy hours in the city for food, beer, wine etc and realised that Randy Dragon a bar near Flinders Station had $3 champers offers on and $5 wines and beers. So we headed off to Randy Dragon I kind of had an idea where it was but not really, we got to the street and eventually found a doorway with a doorman outside and the steps leading downstairs. It literally looked like a brothel. The windows were covered in red drapes and the carpet was all red and it looked highly suspicious so off we went inside and it was actually quite a cool bar all dark and smoky with dragon heads coming out of the wall. The clientele was slightly weird but also funny - mainly old men with Thai bride/girlfriends/ladyboys. It was like an Asian bar it was very cool I was quite impressed to be honest I love the Thai bride thing! There was a DJ on doing some pretty good tunes too and the champers was $3 what a bargain! So we stayed there for one enjoying the people watching. We saw some lovely girls come in dressed in hoodies and tracky pants which was a bit random but nevermind it was nice to go somewhere different! We then headed back to Southbank and we went to Ludlow where Janine works as she was meeting some of her work crew to continue her drinking night out and I went home for a nice night in bed as I was going on my holidays to Tasmania the next day!! How exciting!! So I went home and slept!
next time its all about Taz :) xxx
