17th March - My 22nd! St Paddy's day!!!
Oh dear - woke up with possibly the worst hangover of my life!! Altho the hangover didnt really kick in until midday as i was still drunk all morning. Jackie the legend who i love agreed to let us sneak on teh bus to Franz Josef! Stopped at this dodgy museum thing - no interest! On teh next leg of the journey i proceed to puke in a bag on the bus and jackie has to pull over - classy girl! i think the rest of the bus (other than the BRRB) hate me by this point but i reminded them all, many times, that it was in fact my birthday!
Franz Josef glacier village was very quaint. The glacier itself is very beautiful and one of the only places in the world where a glacier decends into rainforest. Spectacular sight! But there was only one thing on our minds .....birthday lash! only to be made better by the arrival of Nat and teaser on the Atomic shuttle! Kia Woka complete once again!
i had such a good nite. The hostel had a st paddys party on and the guys made me dress up like an idiot!! Bought me a cute hat, a kiwi and a NZ thong! bless them! Another crazy nite of carnage and naked fags....Mi Cuca? anyone?
Recond no. 5 - most jaeger bombs ever ordered at once at the bar. Previous=28, our bus=46!!! Go BRRB!
The next day was the glacier climb which was amazing. The scenery was so beautiful. It has been retreating since the 1890s especially due to global warming and El Nino (yes - geog geek once again. This country is like a million case studies in one - I love it!). The glacier seemed like another world, really out of place amongst the rainforest. Another great but tiring day. Luckily the next day jen and I wer eable to chill out in the little alpine village and try to stop ourselves from getting ill - we failed! It was freezing and by now the tans were gone - depression!
