June 11: Day 37:
This morning we had to wake up early so that we could drive back to the campground we couldn’t stay at because it was full, but we didn’t go back to camp, we went back to canoe. We arrived to the Mornington Office and that was where we got our life jackets and paddles. Then we had to drive for another hour to the Gorge we were canoeing at, Dimond Gorge. It was a 2 kilometre return paddle. As we were going through the Gorge we could see a mountain on either side of it. That was when dad took some photos of us in the middle of the Gorge with the mountains behind us. People that had already turned around said that they had seen a baby freshwater crocodile up ahead of us, but we didn’t see it. A bit after the non spotting of the crocodile there was a raised rock maze we had to get through. That was were Mum, Lily and I got stuck on a rock that was really close to the surface. It took us about a minute to float off the rock and mum told us to not tell dad. We arrived at the waterfall shortly after our stranded moments and that was where we had lunch. The waterfall wasn’t as big as the other gorges but was still pretty cool. We swum underneath the waterfall in the pool below. The water was pretty cold but the waterfall itself was warm because the sun was heating it from were it was coming from. So we canoed back without getting stuck and drove for another 3 hours back home ready for bed.
