With our last day in Nepal we felt obliged to see one last sight. The enormous Stupa was a popular attraction so we did some taxi negotiations for a lift there. On the way, the heavens opened and torrential rain ensued for the next few hours. We took shelter in a cafe for a cup of tea and waited for it to pass. The stupa was quite badly damaged in the earthquake so we couldn't get inside. We did a couple of laps of it, before deciding to call it a day and head back to Thamel. We definitely wouldn't class this as a 5 star attraction! We got a bit lost as we followed the winding streets back to the main road to find a taxi. Eventually, after walking the muddy streets we found a taxi driver who would take up back for a reasonable fee. We spent the afternoon and evening picking up a few more souvenirs, and packing our bags. After dinner we headed to the Purple Haze rock bar to meet our Scottish and kiwi mates for a beer and some live rock music. Our last day in Kathmandu came to a close. It's fair to say that we had fallen in love with Nepal, and in particular the amazing people who despite the recent struggles, always carried the most amazing smiles on the faces.
