Our guide Bikram collected us from the hostel around 5:30 as we were on the 6:30 flight out ok Kathmandu. We headed to the airport and got into the small domestic terminal. Not long after arriving we realised that bad weather (mist) in Lukla meant that our flight was delayed until the weather improved. Over the next couple of hours Bikram made a few calls to his mate in Lukla to as about the weather but the mist didn't look like lifting. We continued to wait with the other disappointed looking trekkers and eventually, after around 5 hours of waiting, at 11 o'clock they announced that the flights were cancelled. We would have to try again tomorrow. We made the disappointing journey in a taxi back to Thammel and
checked into the Om Tara guest house for the night. We spent the afternoon in our new favourite establishment, OR2K eating most of the menu. We had a wonder around all the shops again, whilst being hassled for violins, flutes, rickshaw rides, trekking tours and marajuana. We decided against those items so headed to Thakali Kitchen, which was a mission to find, for some dal bat. The young guy serving us was very friendly and heaped our plates with as much rice as we could physically handle. We shared an Everest beer before back to the guesthouse to prepare for the 5am pick up and hopefully a flight to the mountains.
