The morning was stunning and for the first time in a while, warm (ish). A quick breakfast, pickup and we were off to Namche. Today would continue down for the first past before a steep climb up the hill to Namche. A quick double back for Bom to collect his phone that he had left and we were on our way. Stunning scenery was in store for the morning. We were now well into the tree line and the landscape was on much changed from our high altitude adventures. Trees, plants, flowers and the rushing river in the gorge made it a picture perfect day against the brilliant blue sky. We got down to a small shop where Bom downed a coffee before the steep climb up. This was around 1.5 hours of steep up which brought us to another amazing viewpoint and a few little restaurants. We sat and had some water before the gradual decent down the nice wide path to Namche. On the way down Bom asked us if we would mind is stopping in to see his sister on the way. She lived adjacent to the main path to Namche, in a small area of shops that mainly sold jewellery to Trekkers. We went into their home and had some coffee and biscuits. They were pleased to see us and as every greeted us with warm Nepalese hospitality. After 20 minutes or so, we were on our way to the relative normality of Namche. We passed some small villages, with horses and prayer wheels as always. We turned the corner and there was the magnificent Namche Bazzar, sprawled across the hillside like an amphitheater. We raced down the narrow steps and through the village. Namche was the first sensible place to have a beer and we couldn't wait. Drinking at altitude would definitely not be fun, but now acclimatised, and at less than 4000m we were virtually at sea level! After some negotiating with Bikram, whom we met back at 'The Nest lodge we had managed to secure something that money can't buy in the mountains, an en suite, HOT, shower!
The dribble of hot water was incredible. We had our first clean for almost 2 weeks and we were feeling alive again! Unfortunately no clean clothes, but we were well on our way back to feeling somewhat normal again. We headed into town, up the steps beside the waterway they were still building with locals doing their laundry in the cascading water. We had a wonder through the village and set up base in a cafe where we had some tea, chips and for the first time in 2 weeks, Internet access. We let the world know we were alive beige heading back down to the guesthouse for dinner and a good sleep.
