The day stayed with a breakfast in the courtyard of at a small restaurant close to our hostel. We chatted to an old English man who used to live in Kathmandu and now spends lots of time here. Breakfast was followed by a walk into the main Thamel streets which meant passing our favourite place, OR2K so we opted for breakfast number 2. The rest of the morning as spent picking up souvenirs and wandering the narrow streets. With sore bodies from the trek, we decided a massage was in order. We were pretty tired today so we stumbled across the Kathmandu Guesthouse. This used to be a backpackers guesthouse but after the earthquake it had transformed into a 5 star hotel. It has amazing gardens, which was a sanctuary right in the middle of the city. We found a day bed in the corner of the gardens and relaxed for a few hours with Tom popping out now and then to pick up goods from the bakery! Today seemed to be about relaxation and eating! In the afternoon we wandered the streets again and found a jewellery shop which Helen liked the look of. Two hours later we left having done some serious negotiating for a very nice tailor made ring and necklace. We celebrated with a chocolate brownie in the next door cafe then headed back towards the hostel in search of more food!
