Next stop we headed to the national park Tayrona in a bid to contract the ever fashionable travellers disease Dengue Fever which was apparently gripping the national park if backpacker reports were to be believed!
Tromped through the forest checking out lines and lines of massive red leaf cutter ants and a huge unrecognised bug critter type-thing to a little place called San Juan de Cabo which was picture postcard amazing. Two little coves of perfect white beaches with palm trees and clear blue sea.
Stayed in our first ever 'hammock hotel' on a hill between the two beaches overlooking the ocean with a lovely sea breezed and managed to get a pretty darned good snooze in considering everytime we turned over we set each other swinging...although possibly the copious amounts of beer by candlelight helped things along!
No real acitivity achieved for a few days apart from general monging and burning ourselves on the beach until it was time to wave a very amusing farewell to Katie who, as an accomplished rider, rented a fine looking nag for the trot back, only to be led humiliated out of the park by some youngster on foot! He he he.
Then it was one more tasty fish dinner washed down with our sneaked in bottle of wine - our friends got strip searched and confiscated, tee hee - and we were ready to hit the road again to Cartagena a five hour slog down the coast....
