Ended up staying in Honduras' most notorious gang controlled city San Pedro Sula after being freaked out by reports of buses being attacked after dark and how dangerous Honduras was....but managed to make it to the port to catch our boat across the sea to Belize in one piece despite all the fearful scare stories.
Randomly spotted our friend Nick from Colombia at the port too which was cool, but much more random was that he had become friends with a girl called Nyree who we originally met at the very bottom of South America last April!!
Persuaded them to come with us to Placencia so soon the four of us were speeding across the Caribbean sea on route to a new country!!
Scored a cool little pad in a woman's house right up in the loft and then spent the next few days lazing on the beach, boozing in the Barefoot beach bar and listening to a lot of Bob Marley....especially on his birthday!
Placencia is a really cute place, a super laid back caye right down in the south of the country. There's no real roads, and the 'main' street is just a narrow pathway running along the beach with all the hotels and restaurants on it. And the easiest way in and out is by Hokey Pokey water taxis!
Went for another day of diving, we were going to the outer reef where you see sharks and manta rays, but a storm came in so we ended up diving at Laughing Bird Caye instead which was a bit of a shame. Did see a beautiful Spotted Eagle Ray and loads of giant lobsters though so it made up for a brief spell of driving rain and storms!
On our last night, Tim and I spent the night drinking with two local bus drivers and playing pool in the Tipsy Tuna, before stumbling home after a poorly performed rendition on Madonna's Like a Prayer in the karaoke comp!
Next stop Guat....
