Arrived in Foz after pretty grim overnight bus journey and spent the first afternoon recovering watching some rubbish horror movie before heading out to investigate Foz nightlife.
Ended up drinking Chopp beer and playing drinking cards with Aussi soap actor Luke until we had three tottering towers of saucers on our table to show how many beers we had consumed. Got a little messy especially after he instructed the waiters to keep the beer flowing CONSTANTLY!! All ended up in the hostel pool fully clothes for some unknown reason. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Next day we decided to cross the Friendship bridge in Paraguay to do a spot of super cheap shopping and get a passport stamp. Somehow in our hungover states we managed to get into the country without stopping at any kind of immigation or legal border crossing....and ended up having to sneak back into Brazil on a local bus to avoid a huge fine! Techincally we were illegal alliens for a day.
Paraguay was so unlike Brazil, although just across the river, really busy and loads of people buying and selling because everything was sooo cheap. Spent most of the afternoon politely turning down sellers trying to flog us socks, electric beard trimmers and massive flick knives. Did manage to score ourselves a nice new digital camera after dropping ours on a tipsy Valentines eve!
Anyway, after messing about in Paraguay, we finally visited the famous falls which were pretty cool and absolutely massive. Guess thats why its one of the seven wonders!! Walked a few km alongside the falls to reach Devils Throat, the start of the biggest bit, and got wet walking on the catwalk right into the middle!! It was great, just as we were leaving, the sun came out and a rainbow appeared....awww!
Tim headed off the visit the famous dam - one of seven modern wonders of the world - and then we went for an Arabian dinner complete with belly dancers.....
Next stop Iguacu Falls....Argie style.....
