Spent a very slow week eating and drinking our way down south en route to Buenos Airies.....
Stopped in San Ignacio to take a gander at the Jesuit Missions, the ruins were a tad underwhelming but the tiny town was super chilled and relaxing after the high drama of the falls!
Next stop...Posadas where we stayed in a dilapitadated old residencial with high ceilings, wooden shutters and extremely dodgy electrics which Tim discovered on touching a live light switch and getting a massive shock. Literally! Explored the city and had a great night out on the riverfront overlooking the illusive Paraguay putting away more pound bottles of champers and steaks....forget dubious wiring...this diet is going to be the death of us!
Nervously booked our ticket on another 12 hour overnight journey to Santa Fe but were well chuffed to discover our 'first class' style flat seats complete with complimentary cushions and cashmere blanket...not to mention free whiskey, wine, beer and yet more champagne. Don't mind if we do!
Wandered around Santa Fe, billed as a 'sassy little town' by the guide book, and ate more fine food and had a top night playing cards in the London Underground bar. We have taken to betting on cards for every tiny thing in our hectic daily schedules including what bunk we sleep in, who gets the best pillow and who jumps out of the plane first!! (This bet is still standing as for the third time our skidiving careers were put on hold due to rubbish weather!)
Final stop before Buenos...Rosario where we were planning to go skidiving, horseriding along the beach, stay on a deserted island and enjoy a bike tour of the city. Sadly thanks to freaky flash floods we ended up doing just the bike tour....the island was under water, the skidiving was cancelled and the horses refused to trot in the rain.
The bike tour was cool though, we did it with a crazy super fit guy called Leo who insisting on pushing us to our limits and would not let us quit...'Noone quits my tour'...Also insisted on taking our photo in front of lots of very random buildings around the city and calling us Teby and Ted...hmmm? Cool guy though.
Didn't do much else....went to the pictures and saw a great film called Perfume and Stranger than Fiction.....but guess you all saw them months ago?? And partied in the hostel with fellow trapped travellers....
Looking forward to the bright lights of BA.... (Buenos Aires, not Baracus, you crazy fool) xx
