Up early the group headed to our truck which drove us to a river about 10 minutes from camp. The boat represented a canoe with an engine strapped to the back. With life jackets on and everyone in we set off down the Caitao River. Water constantly strayed up the sides as we sliced across the water. After about 30 minutes we had to walk for 30 minutes over land to the other side of the river. Meanwhile our boat would navigate the unsafe rapids and meet us on the other side. We visited the Well of Happiness a small waterfall and well on the side of the river. Sam was straight in there as usual. After we were back on the boat for another 3.30 hours. Our bums were so sore and numb. After lunch we reached the embankment that was the initial path through the jungle, up to Angel Falls, It was a long tiring walk that was very slippery due to the amount of intertwined roots. After what seemed an hour we reached Angel Falls. The highest free falling waterfall in the world at 979m. After many photos we headed to the base where we swam in the pool. It was a cool feeling knowing we were swimming in Angel Falls. After a couple of hours we headed back to camp. Not before the heavens decided to open a soak us all through....
Back at camp I decided to take a shower. It was merely a dribble of water that ran out as soon as I got soaped up....
With dinner in us, we prepared to spend another night in our hammocks.
