We were super late waking up this morning... I could barely open my eyes until 10am, which is unusual for me but it was so nice to have a lie in!
We went out at around 11am, the owner that spoke English helped us get into Georgetown. This place is so developed! And easy!
The 103 bus from the main road around the corner runs every ten minutes and takes you straight to Georgetown. The bus driver was extremely kind aswell helping us out where to go, he was Indian decent.
We decided to get off a little earlier than the bus depot, I had an idea where we were from yesterday and the taxi drive.
Penang is hot, yeah okay just like any other place you could probably say! But this heat is that sticky Bangkok heat with the heavy on your shoulder Mumbai heat mixed with a burning Phuket heat! Yeah. That's it! A 'ban-bai-ket' heat! ;)
We walked around what seemed to be the old area of Georgetown, we came across Nagor Street, it was New Orleans French quarter buildings with banksy standard graffiti on walls. Old war time music playing from the speakers on the old fashion street lights. It was pretty and quaint!
Lots of bakeries and cafés about the place!
Once we left this road we walked for ages around the area, we stumbled upon what was blatantly china town! Chinese lanterns and restaurants, laundries and tailor shops everywhere.
We eventually found love lane which was apparently the main part for where tourists stay.
It was really nice there, plenty of cafés and coffee shops. The buildings still had the arch ways and French wooden shutters on their windows, the paint was peeling off some of the walls which gave it that extra old rustic feel about the place.
We eventually felt hungry and stumbled upon a family Chinese restaurant, plastic chairs were the main reason for dragging us in - cheap!
It was like picture game pointing out what we wanted to the man. It all came out correct and it was all really good! I had dim sum soup which was delicious! Scott had some chicken noodle dish with spices and what not!
We didn't fancy seeing a lighthouse and museums of architecture so we done a toiletries shop and jumped on a bus back to the homestay.
We spotted a cinema in the shopping centre by us so we went and got showered and went to a screening of fast and furious 7, we thought we hadn't spent anything today really so we would treat ourselves... Two cinema tickets weren't exactly a splurge in the wallet though, it cost us £4 to see the film! I can't ever remember the cinema being that cheap! Ever! This cinema was better than any cinema we had ever been to at home! It was really nice!!
Afterwards we still thought we hadn't splurged today, only spending £9.50 so we checked out TGI Fridays for food, not even this place was expensive!! How great is this Friday! Haha. Cinema and dinner dates are cheap in Malaysia! We could go all the time if it was like this at home! Haha.
We were planning on an early night because we have to get up at 4am tomorrow for the bus to Perhentian islands but neither of us could sleep until around midnight, oh we are gunna be sore heads tomorrow morning!!
