Morning taxi to Mandrem, our last stop in Goa.
I wanted a taxi for 400 rupees for 40km, couldn't get it so had to settle with 600 rupees. The roads got quieter as we climbed up the hills, it's a tourist area up here but we didn't see one tuk tuk coming into morjim - mandrem, and still none in arambol. Only hundreds of mopeds everywhere, tourists driving a lot of them. I would be scared to death to get on the back of one of those, especially with Scott's bad driving!
Our hotel is down a quieter end of mandrem, I'm not sure it's the main area, although there are shops and restaurants but our hotel is down a dirt track with no lights. There are more hotels next to it and two or three shops. I think a few Indian houses as well.
Shankar hotel seems pretty welcoming and nice though, we were hoping for a high room but Our bad luck gets us the ground floor room... Nice enough though just no balcony or extra feeling of safeness. Although we're yet to feel uncomfortable or unsafe anywhere in India, everyone we come across are welcoming and kind, Happy people as well considering they have nothing. We are everyone's friend 'hello my friend' we just met don't get hasty now! Ha.
Took a trek to Arambol beach(next beach over)
Got hijacked by these two numpty Indians! They pointed at Scott's ear and he thought they were on about his ear stretcher so he turned and stopped, this man say wax in ear, stone in ear.. So he started priding his ear with some stick and getting 'ear wax' out of his ears, saying he has stone in his ears from shampoo and conditioner and sand.. Scott said he didn't have the money for it, (500 rupees to take a 'stone' out of his ear) didn't have it couldn't give it him then the man started doing my ear and said 100 for one ear, I didn't like it so I started pulling away, stop priding my ear with that stick it tickles and feels strange. Well Scott had the stones taken out but he told the man he didn't have the money so we have them 100 each and walked away, stupid men. What don't they understand about no money. Other than that incident everyone have been lovely.
Arambol is full of dreadlocks, meditation, random people dotted all over the beach doing yoga, men wearing old cloth as skirts, hippy people in cross stitched clothes and they all look really spaced out, in another world sort of.
Scott went in the sea, think he was she'll shocked! He said a man just whipped of his clothes has his doo daa out walked loud and proud in that sea! Haha. Nudist men. Terrible sight.
Went into Arambol for food, we always choose the restaurant with the worst wifi when we are trying to find something! I'm still gob smacked at how many hippies they're are, we walked the beach, there was a party going on which was so funny! They were all just bobbing up and down with no control over their body, eyes shut smiling at nobody. Hilarious! Waky backy in the air dude! I expect they've come to Goa to find theirselves and be at peace with the world and relax... Dude. Dude, you need a good shaking. You've found yourself too much, smell the coffee not the hash of marijuana.
I was going to do a yoga class whilst I was here, don't think I'll bother now though.. Feel a little out of place with clean hair and not doped up.
Learnt something new from the trainee david attinbrough today, the waves are controlled by the moon, and the tide is in line with the moon.
Arambol is a lovely pale but I think you have to be a little spaces out with oneself and the world to enjoy it as much as some!
Had a lovely surprise when I got in the room tonight, little Larry the lizard paid us a visit. Orange little thing... Yuk! Couldn't get him out so had to sleep with him on the wall next to, just didn't want him climbing over my face.
