After arriving at the plush hotel 'resort de coracao' yesterday, we sat by the pool all afternoon. It was relaxing and nice not to have sand everywhere! The pool was freezing but refreshing!
Indians... They stay out of the sun, or they cover up in the sun, they are never to be seen other than on their balconies! What's the point in coming on holiday? Show a little flesh or go outside at least.
There were two brave ones that jumped in the pool, only problem they couldn't swim. (I am 100% off duty, not saving anyone) good job the pool was only 4ft deep, they just flapped around attempting to swim - bless. Now I know why they never make it to the Olympics though, they don't go outside or strip off enough to get in the pool.
We delightfully joined by a Russian couple on the afternoon, they're like the Chinese! You can't shake them off, everywhere you go here they appear soon or later!
Saying that, no surprise when we were at the spice plantation a massive group of Chinese on tour came rocking up all dressed in yellow polo tops! - everywhere I tell you!
Went Out early for food, went to top Nosh restaurant owned by Maggie's hotel that was in lonely planet, that travel bible doesn't get much wrong fair play! The food was so good, and cheap!
Went back to the room early and had two beers on the balcony, but that wasn't enough so order room service, don't worry mum it wasn't expensive! 4 beers for £2.50!
Wednesday 3rd December... NORM's BIRTHDAY! I think I was more excited than him haha, he is not embracing the 26 year old vibes! He has decided he's classing himself as 25 the whole trip, probably to ease himself in.. Only tricking himself though by the time next birthday comes he will have thought he's lost a year. Opened his card and I got him a ball for a present.. His face lit up at the sight of an ball! I got him the wave-runner that skims across the water, it's really good!
Had breakfast and went down the beach, we are further down today and it was so much nicer, no Indians taking your photo or hassling you. Another beach friend - he doesn't like the Russians either because they're rude. He said he hasn't seen many British people in a while because of the visa fees, whereas Russian don't have to pay for visas to enter the country. He said that there is a new government in charge now or something so they are looking to change the rules with visas and allowing around 43 countries to be able to come here without visas which is good, because they are a pain in anyone's bums!
We went and bought some beach towels because they didn't have any on the loungers, he wanted 500 rupees for each towel! No way I could sea through them near enough! I had 2 for 300 rupees in the end :) he makes no profit he said... Aye what ever mate wouldn't cost 50p at home to make these towels!
Played ball in the sea, it bounces really well! Later on in the afternoon after the beach I had to get in the pool, felt so much cleaner and fresher after a dip!
I tagged myself in an Instagram photo last night at Maggie's cafe and a garden grill and bar commented come to our place and show this to get discounts! It looked nice so we have it a try! Taxi man wanted 300rupees to go down the road, we had it for 100. :)
He dropped us off on the wrong road so had a stroll down what looked like the main strip of candolim, which was really nice and busy full of package holiday people. To get the this garden grill and bar had to go down a road which was dark in parts but had clothes shacks on it, a bit ery but we got there. Had an Indian trying his best at karaoke, worse than Scott singing in the shower! Haha. Although Scott thought he was worse than me and that's all wrong, I'm too good for the xfactor!
We ordered a drink whilst the menus came, we were out up on the balcony of this sort of hut, but it wobbled every time someone moved and there want very much choice on the menu, ha! As Scott said there was a bit of a bad vibe about it all, wasn't happy to sit there and eat. How are we getting out of this one.. 'Scott fake ill' he played it really good to be fair. After downing half of his pint to be able to leave faster and make it look like I had his drink I think he did feel ill. You could tell they definitely weren't buying it so we paid really fast and we left.
I tried to pretend to be sympathetic but I just could not keep a straight face!
Walked back on to the main strip, found a lovely restaurant it was more so in a garden with live jazz and the Indian super league football on, both of us in our oils! And these jazz singers were awesome Indian singers, played all the classics!
It helped that the food and service was good as well!
Sat by the bar after food to have some drinks, Scott was laughing at a mans trousers, he said 'he got those hippy trousers on, black and white, looks like a right turnip'
No Scott, he's just getting into the groove of india and coming to light with his inner Indian! I think if Scott actually tried a pair on he'd have a different view on them, they're like wearing pijamas, they're the most comfortable trousers ever!
Scott found a new friend by the time id gone to the toilet and came back. This one was rich though and didn't have black teeth from chewing beetle nuts and tobacco leaves.
He was from Mumbai(Bombay as he likes to call it), I asked him what he does for a living... Oh god here we go! He's worked everywhere really and was a tour guide in Europe and now he owns his own business. He giggled and said 'I supply' in Goa and Delhi. Hmm he doesn't supply bread and milk to any odd bod! His two friends where the joint owners of casino pride, biggest casino in Goa. They had to go and meet clients though.. Was all a little strange to me! His linen ain't clean!
Overall a good day and night though,
Happy 26th birthday Scott Norman!
