So today was our last full day with the car and last full day not in Paris.
We woke at 5 to be in line to get tickets to font de guame by 7. We arrived there and were numbers 5 and 6 for tickets. We sat and chatted with the other people until the ticket window opened at 930. We figured all the tickets were spoken for by about 9am.
We then toured the first cave 52 tickets a day. It had 15 000 year old cave paintings in it. In red brown and black colours. It was very cool, mostly buffalo, deer, and caribou.
We then went off to a market in a small town. It was closing as we arrived. But we got bread, walnut tart, walnuts, strawberries. All the things this region is known for. Strawberry season is April until November.
We then went back to our caves for our 2 pm tour. This cave they only sell 35 tickets a day. It has mostly etchings not paintings. But it had all the above animals plus woolly mammoths, wooly cats, horses, donkey, bears, a face, and as our guide described a large bottomed woman.
I liked the first cave best and Trapper liked the second one best. But they were both awesome.
Afterwards we went to the Airbnb. I had a swim and Trapper a nap. Anyway I’m sure we will crash before too long. But we are enjoying some tv, chairs, my last yeast free beer. So it should be a good night.
