Wednesday 13th June 2018 - Left Port Augusta early, made out first stop for a coffee at Hawker and then carried on through the Flinders Ranges. On the way we saw 2 Emu's by the side of the road.
Made it to Parachilna where we stopped for lunch at the Prairie Hotel and experienced an outback meal of Kangaroo, Emu and Camel. On arrival Phil was tempted a the beer that had been brewed especially for the Hotel. Overall a lovely place to stop for a great lunch and to met some interesting locals.
We fuelled up at Leigh Creek and pushed on to Lyndhurst were we had intented to stay for the night. On arrival having discovered that there was nothing there we continured on the dirt road to Marree. Although before we tackled this section of our journey we needed to reduce the tyre pressures.
When we got to Marree and after checking into the caravan park we wandered along to the famous Marree Hotel for refreshment, taking in a lovely sunset.
The Hotel had a museum that was dedicated to a man called Tom Kruze who was the last Birdsville Track Mailman.
Note: The route we travelled between Port Augusta to William Creek was the originaly route of the Ghan Railway that was closed in 1980.

Susan McCann What is your total mileage so far?
Sally powell How was the camel? Not sure if I could eat that. Sounds like you two travellers are settling in to the grey nomad way of life .
Kaye Nutman Those pubs sound like fun. What meals have you been managing to make in the caravan? Have you had the barbie out yet? You sound like old hands at this already, with your tyre pressure changes and all!
Kaz Sounds great so far . Cold and miserable here
