We were up early in Manila to get the bus to the airport which took about 2 hours and we were tired as we didnt sleep very well, mainly due to the gunshots going off all night! Not cool! The flight was ok though as it took just over an hour so we arrived early afternoon. We then got a tricycle (a motorbike with a side cart) to the hotel as there are no taxis. So from 7 am in Manila we used a taxi, then a bus, then a jeepney, then a plane and then a tricycle!
The hotel, well guesthouse, is not as bad as we thought it would be. Especially as we are paying 50 quid for 3 nights! It does smell a bit funky though. Rikki says its me who smells. Ive had no deodorant for about 3 weeks now! So maybe it is. We went into downtown Puerto Princesa which was dim. There isnt anything there!
Today was really good as we went on an organised trip. We went to Honda Bay which is 20 minutes away and caught a boat to 3 different islands and did snorkeling at each of them. At the first island the water was really shallow and then suddenly there was a huge drop! We saw loads of tropical fish! I held out my hand and the curious ones had a nibble! The second island was where we had lunch. The snorkeling was different here though as it wasnt coral but weeds and other water plants. It had similar looking fish. A crab also walked across Rikki's foot. She screamed, I panicked thinking it was a shark or something! The third island, well it wasnt an island it was a floating platform in the middle of the sea. The fish were bigger here, some about half the size of me. Jellyfish also floated about which I didnt like. If I was Chinese I would of licked my lips as they eat most of the stuff that freaks everybody else out. We headed back to mainland around 3 ish. We both really enjoyed it but prefer been on land.
Tomorrow we fly back up to Manila for 1 night then we head to Hong Kong. The hotel should be nice as its 4 star and has a pool. The hostel for 1 night in Hong Kong is costing nearly twice as much as 1 night in a 4 star! We have 12 nights in Hong Kong so we have planned some of it out. We are going to Macau next Monday (it has the biggest casino in the world - The Venetian, which is 3 times bigger than the Vegas one), Tuesday we are going to Disneyland, Thursday to Ocean Park (a big theme park which has pandas and whales), and Friday to see some big Buddha. The other days will be attractions like the Peak Tram, Star Ferry and most importantly... Christmas shopping!

Anne Don't think I will be visiting the Phillipines. Glad you are heading for more civilised Hong Kong - I really enjoyed it but was only there three days so not long enough. Everything here is getting very Christmassy with lights and the stores playing Christmas carols. So far all I have done is buy a Christmas pudding!! Need to get my act together. Looking forward to going to Liverpool 1st and 2nd December with Liz and Pam. We all had a good day at the Spa last Saturday. Looking forward to seeing you both on New Year's Eve.
