Hey all!
Another few days have gone by. Not much to report for now. We have our language interviews on Friday. I am pretty excited/scared for that. All Peace Corps volunteers have to pass a certain level in order to leave to their sites. I am 2 levels below that, so hopefully I can make that level this time. Last Sunday, I was going to hike up the mountain range with another volunteer. That didnt happen because we went to a birthday party the night before. These Peruvians sure do love their parties! Its tradition that birthday parties (might even be all parties) go until 7 am! They eat a full course meal at 1 am, and cut the cake at 7 am. So, needless to say, I have never seen them cut the cake. We left about 2:50, and the car we were in got a flat on our way back. We stood around for about an hour trying to fix the flat. The spare that came with the car was already flat, so it didnt make a difference when we changed it. So the host dad ran up the mountain with this flat tire, called someone, at 3:30 in the morning, and got it exchanged for a working tire. So I got hope about 4 am, and there was no way we were going to start hiking at 10 am.
The Peace Corps gave us our bank cards the other day! Using the ATM was more or less a trial-and-error process for me. I want to see how much money is in my account, but I havent really figured that part out yet!
Well, thats all!
Happy travels!
