Hey everyone,
This weekend was pretty exciting. On Saturday, the WatSan people made worm composting bins. I know that sounds stupid, but instead of watching another power point presentation, we mixed concrete and set the base for a large composting bin and made wood frames for smaller, hanging composting bins. I enjoyed it. It was great to talk with the other WatSan people as well, and find out more about them. After, I ate lunch at home, and climbed the local mountain in my community. I got a better look at Huascaran. Its bigger than I thought. My little sister came, so we didnt go very far. Next weekend, I am going to climb the mountain and others surrounding. Hopefully I can make a loop instead of backtracking.
On Sunday, my host parents brought me out to Chosica to eat some anticucho. Its a very traditional dish that you find at street venders. When I got my plate, I noticed that some of it suspiciously looked like tubes, vains, and organs of an animal. It turns out that this cultural dish is the heart of a cow, and the organs near the heart. I ate it, but at times it was kind of hard to swallow. The meat part, not the lungs part, is very rich and tender, so I had no problem eating that. Well, as long as I thought it was something else.
Today was a good day. I played guitar for 2 hours, which is nice because I actually had time to myself!
Hope all is well in the states!
