Funny story:

Some people have funny stories about their host families. One girl went home, and was unpacking her bag, and she wanted to go to the bathroom. But the family only gets water on one day out of the week, and they save the rest in buckets. So she asked the dad how to use and fill the toilet with water, but her spanish isnt very good. So she kept saying "limpia, limpia" meaning how to flush the toilet. The dad didn't know what she was saying, so she thought, ok, I am just going to hold it until tomorrow when there is water. So she went into her room, , and listened to her family talk about her. And at this point, was crying because of the frustration in not communicating, and the fact that she can't even explain to them that she just wants to go to the bathroom.

The mom knocks on her door and comes into her room, and sees that she is crying. So the girl says to her "oh, I just have allergies". And then the mom says that they are going to paint her room and all these things for her. So she has to explain to them that she was lying about the allergies because she was embarassed that she was crying because she just wants to use the bathroom. So the mom laughs, and brings her to the bathroom where the grandma is scrubbing the bathroom down from top to bottom with gloves on and all sorts of cleaner. She felt so bad that she made them do that. And now the children walk around and ask her if she is sad and tell the whole town that she was crying. On top of that, the mom and dad tried to get her to sleep with the grandma until they paint and clean her room, because the thought the room was giving her allergies.

Funny. We got some good laughs. My host family is great! I really want to heplp cook and clean, but they insist I just sit there and watch TV or do my homework.

Most of the time, I feel like I am a little kid, doing what my mom tells me to do. She packs my lunch. for school.
