Another long journey to San Cristobal. Visited two waterfalls not far from Palenque on the way, Misol-Ha and Agua Azul.
Didn't get to swim in the waterfalls unfortunately :( it was raining so the current was too strong so we weren't allowed to :(
Went behind the waterfall at Misol-Ha. Luckily we had raincoats as we got soaked!
At Agua Azul it was bigger. Lovely too. We had some mango Mexican style. See cover photo. It was basically mango with paprika (I think), salt and lime. It was okay, I think I prefer good old plain mango on its own lol!
Was gutted I didn't managed to take any photos of the monkeys at the jungle lodge in Palenque. We didn't see any apart from when we first arrived. I should have taken some then but I just wanted to dump my bags in my room first. Never mind!
The road to San Cristobal was long and windy. Really good scenery though from what I saw as I struggled to stay awake most of the journey! I think I can sleep anywhere now lol!
Passed lots of villages so got to see poor Mexican houses, people hard at work. Saw farms too, lots of animals and many people trying to sell things on the road. Our driver pretty much waved at almost every driver he passed and people walking on the road too! And the amount of speed bumps was ridiculous! It doubles the length of the journey too and gets so annoying lol!
Once we arrived we were able to look around San Cristobal on our own before meeting for dinner. Seems like a lovely place. Good markets. Got to buy a bracelet to keep up with tradition! Will aim to buy one at every country I visit on this trip. (not cities/towns as it'll mean I'll have too many lol!!)
Decided to stay behind tomorrow and explore more instead of going on a boat trip. It's meant to rain tomorrow too apparently so won't be missing much :)
Went to this Argentinian restaurant for dinner. It was the best meal of the trip so far. Had this lovely steak and the most gorgeous cake with chocolate and dulce de leche (a caramel) for pudding as a treat! Never felt so full in ages!
Went to a bar afterwards as usual! Taught the others some signs which they loved. So will be testing them tomorrow to see if they remember any. Let's see!
