A good day in Palenque. Felt so much better after a good night's sleep, 7 hours, the longest since I've arrived in Mexico!
It didn't rain, yay! Visited the Palenque ruins. Walked up so many steps which showed how unfit I am! Some people say it's better than Chichen Itza. We were able to walk up the steps of some of the ruins so had lovely views.
Went back to the jungle lodge for lunch before heading out to the lake. The water was freezing! Got used to it after a while. We had some face masks using the mud which is apparently good for your skin. My face felt good afterwards.
Was really worried yesterday as my right foot had really swelled up. It actually looked like I had cankles lol! But this morning it had gone down a bit and even more so after wearing my walking shoes today! So definitely going to wear them instead of flip flops until the swelling goes down completely. Phew! Didn't want to have to end up going to hospital!
Rained a tiny bit this evening. It was actually cool enough to wear my leggings! I've actually missed wearing long trousers as it's been too hot and humid.
Had a lovely "catch of the day" fish for dinner, which was a whole fish. I had to debone it myself which I made a real mess of compared to the Belgian! It's obvious who the experienced one is :p We had to wait forever for it! The others had pretty much finished their meals before we had started! Very laid back with their timing here for sure!
Off to San Cristobal tomorrow via stops at 2 waterfalls. It will take 8 hours to get there so another long journey. Hopefully we will be able to swim in the waterfalls. San Cristobal is our last Mexican city before going over to Guatemala. Time is flying so quick! It's scary as the next thing I know it'll be time for me to go home :( so going to make the most of it while I can!
