This is just a quick update that I have arrived at Hanoi safe and sound. As I told in my previous entry I took the bus from Wuzhou to Nanning. I spent one night and day in Nanning and continued in the evening by train to Pingxiang. I had to stay two nights in Pingxiang as my bike arrived there the next day. I utilized the available time by washing some clothes and doing some sight-seeing there.

After those two nights i climbed to the saddle and cycled through friendship-pass, which is one of the two international border crossings between China and Vietnam. Last two days I have cycled here in Vietnam, totally about 180 km (including the first day from border). The route was along a main road, but the scenery was very nice until about 50 km from Hanoi.

I just add here that it is now Saturday 17th on October, and I am taking a bus trip to Halong Bay tomorrow. I will be there for one night and will be back at Hanoi Monday evening. Before Tuesday I need to decide if I continue cycling southwards or if I will take a detour towards Northwest (Dien Bien Phu etc...). In any case I try to report the situation Monday evening or Tuesday morning.
