As I predicted yesterday, I decided to take a bus to Nanning tomorrow. As Wuzhou is an intersting little town I decided to stay here for a second night and see a little bit around. Wuzhou is about 4000 years old town and still an important inland harbour town as it is located in the joining of two big rivers. It has even been the Capital of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces in the past.
The city is famous for its several arcade buildings that were built late 19th century. This morning I visited the main attraction here, which is the Temple of Dragon Mother. Dragon Mother is the Goddess of South China and it is told that she lived here in Wuzhou between 290 BC and 211 BC. On top of the hill there was a 38 m high statue of Gragon Mother, the tallest in China.
All kind of commerce seems to be very lively here. City is famous for example for its jewellery and pets. Yestarday I was a bit depressed with the fact that nobody understood me. Thus I had my dinner in local MacDonalds. It had an advantage that I could also purchase a cup of coffee, which I had not had for several days. Today I felt much better when I found the bus station and was able to buy a ticket for the bus leaving tomorrow at 12.30 to Nanning. Today I also purchased my first glass of Sugarcane Juice, which tasted fine (1,5 RMB, about 0.17 euros.)
