Today around noon local time I arrived to Hoi An after about 33 km ride from Danang. Much of the ride was along China Beach. Yesterday I rode over Hoi Van pass, which is about 500 m high pass between Hue and Danag. My rear tyre exploded again yesterday afternoon and now I am using the third outer tire in the rear.
Hoi An is a very nice little town. Yet again one on the Vietnamese UNESCO heritage sites. This used to be an important harbour until about to the end of 19th century. The old city should be almost like it used to be over one hundred years ago. Hoi An was also the first Chinese selttlement here in Vietnam in 16th century.
Altough I have ridden only about 150 km from Hue over last three days, I plan to have some holiday here. This is really a popular tourist destination and all kind of services are easily available. Despite that, the local people are still living here their normal life fishing, going to school and running various other businesses.
As the latest typhoon is expected to arrive somewhere here in Vienam in two days or so, I will most propably stay here for four days.
